LAB 2 - BASIC ELECTRONICS CONT.

Assignment:

This assignment continues our introduction to basic electronics and simple circuits. You will learn how electricity flows through components and will practice calculating resistor values and current with Ohm's law.

Part 1: LEDs in Series and Parallel

  • A photo of the completed circuit with two LEDs

  • A schematic diagram of the completed circuit with two LEDs

  • A video of the RGB-LED circuit as you move the joystick and turn the potentiometer and post it on your blog

  • The schematic diagram of the RGB-LED circuit. In the diagram, represent the joystick through two regular potentiometers.

Part 2: Resistors in Series

  • A photo of your calculations of the overall resistance, the overall current, and the voltage drop across each resistor.

  • A screenshot of the circuit on PhET that shows the voltage measured across R2

Part 3: Resistors in Parallel

  • A photo of your calculations of the overall resistance, the current, and the voltage drop across each resistor.

  • A screenshot of the circuit on PhET that shows the voltage measured across R2

Part 4: Arduino

  • Includes a screenshot of the Arduino Environment with the board information when pressing Tools > Get Board Info

  • If the Arduino did not connect, provides a clear explanation (ie. missing USB-C connector) with a proposed solution

Part 1 Documentation: LEDs in Series and Parallel

Documentation of circuit with two LEDs. All I did was rebuild the circuit from last lab then make sure the anode (+) of the new blue LED was in line with the cathode (-) of the green LED. Then I made sure the cathode (-) of the blue LED was in line with the resistor and the resistor went into the - side on the breadboard.
