ORTHOGRAPHIC MINI TOWN

Assignment:

Using your emerging knowledge of Mesh editing, merging, extruding, insetting, and multiple materials, create a miniature town or village with buildings significant to you.

You may choose to build your town with one of two themes:

1 Your personal college town - This town should include:

- The building you live in

- The building at CU you spend the most time in

- A building where one of your friends lives (Should be different than where you live)

- Your favorite local store

- Your favorite local hangout spot (Besides your home)

2. Your personal high school town - This town should include:

- The building you lived in during high school

- Your high school building

- A building where one of your friends lived

- Your favorite local store back in high school

- Your favorite local hangout spot (Besides your home) back in high school

Buildings can be simplified and characturized, but should still contain a good amount of detail.

A 2D plane should exists for the ground beneath your town

You should set your perspective to orthographic mode before rendering. (View > Perspective/Orthographic)

For my town, I decided to go with option 2. I started by creating the base for my town and then added roads, a sidewalk, and grass following a YT tutorial. My high school was connected to a middle school, so I decided to recreate that side of the building because it was more interesting architecturally. I made a simplified version of my blue home and decided to do one of my friend's houses that's more modern for variety. The place I spent the most was a pocket park right by my house. I would hang out on one of the benches they had with my bf and we would talk a lot here! For my local store, I chose a coffee shop. It's technically under apartments, so I isolated it and simplified it for what it would be like if it weren't connected. The shop has these bright red accents which I love and wanted to replicate!
