ASSIGNMENT

For your third major project, you will be tasked within creating an animated lyric video with sound visualization.  Your project must include audio-based visual synchronization or elements using After Effects expression code.  Overall aesthetics and design choices including, typography, color, layout, etc. are up to you but should be consistent throughout your project.

 

If your audio track does not include lyrics, you may build a piece that is purely visualization-based but the project should include just as much manual workmanship as a lyric video would have.

Your project should include a copyright-free audio track or a piece previously composed in ATLS 3200 - Sound.  If you choose an audio piece that was not composed by you or copyright-free in nature, you CANNOT upload your project to Youtube of Vimeo and must instead host your video on creative.colorado.edu in order to avoid violations to Youtube and Vimeo’s terms of use.

Projects should range from 45-60 seconds in length, be created primarily within After Effects, and uploaded to either Youtube or Vimeo.

 

CREATIVE BRIEF - 11.4.20

Assignment:

For your Sound Visualizer / Lyric Video project, write a short creative brief, describing both the technical and conceptual approach being proposed to execute the project. Discuss the overall design of your project from a visual and motion-based point of view.

For this project, I want to create a video that uses a house song with lots of energy. To match this, I will use a lot of neon colors and flashing graphics across the screen. I would love to find a song with lyrics so I can continue to explore manipulating text in after effects. Right now, I want to use a song that one of my friends has made because he really liked the audiovisualizer I made for the lab/hw project using one of his songs.

I will start by creating storyboards for this project and I will also decide on a color scheme. I want to watch more tutorials too before I begin on how to make an audiovisualizer that has different moving parts. I also want my audiovisualizer to flow really nicely from one thing to another. Making sure the visual and motion aspect of this project matches the song poses the biggest challenge for me right now.

My overall goal for this audiovisualizer is to tell a story through the visuals and lyrics. As the energy builds, I want more colors to be incorporated. I want the viewer to feel as if they were at a concert or club when listening and watching my video and I want them to get lost in the music.

​

While I don't have a fully solidified concept for this project, I know what direction I want to go in and what I need to do right now to get to that point.
