WEEK 4 PROGRESS

Goal 1: Have two 3D animations completed

I finished the water bottle fountain and plant growth animations for this week. I followed a               for creating the plan animation which took a while but at the moment I'm happy with what I was able to get done. I still plan on adding more textures, but I wanted to have the main animation completed. Looking back I also want to add flowers that bloom in addition to the plant growth. I found a              for this, but it was a bit harder to follow because I was struggling to draw the petals they were doing, so that is what I plan on working on for this upcoming week. Here are the videos of the animations below I plan on having come out of the markers.

Goal 2: Find or make patterns

My second goal was to find and make my patterns for the puffer coat and overalls.

For the puffer coat, I made the pattern using a process I learned in Body In Space last semester by tracing a puffer coat I already own on some construction paper I bought from Home Depot. I made sure the coat fit my dress form since that is how I plan on displaying my clothing. Then, I traced out the back, front, arms, and neck separately. This took a few tries to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it to be.

For the overalls, I bought         pattern on Etsy because I didn't have a pair of overalls to trace, and I wanted to make sure I had a strong pattern to work with. My dress form is a size 6, so I plan on using that size option. I started by printing out all of the pages. I had to order A4 paper (none of the office supply stores had it in stock), so it took a little longer to come in. After that, I cut the pages and taped them together in the proper order. Finally, I cut out each of the pieces and labeled them like I did with the pattern I made.

When it came to integrating advice from user testing, I wasn't able to apply too much from the AR side of things since I'm waiting to get help with debugging my code. However, after presentations last week, I was able to create animations that make more sense for my project and have a purpose. After making my animations, I showed them to two friends who agreed that adding flowers would make the animation more powerful. One of them also suggested playing with the texturing of the stem and leaves to make them more realistic to match the aesthetic of the bottles.
