STREAMER CASE STUDY

Assignment:

Seek out a streamer on Twitch.tv that is currently live, that you are unfamiliar with, and that currently has a sizable audience (Over 50 viewers) Spend a half 30-60 minutes watching this streamer and take note of how they are operating. What they do well, what they dont do well. How they engage (or dont) with their audience, and so forth. You may choose any category to streaming that you like.

Once you are finished viewing this streamer, write a up a short written reflection of them and their overall approach. Post this written response as well as several screenshots of their stream to your design blog before the next class period.

I streamed Just Chatting with CoconutB on Twitch, and the live stream was of Jacques Pépin, a French-born American chef, author, culinary educator, television personality, and artist. This stream was different because it seemed to be clips of him put together for the stream. He was showing the audience various ways to slice fruits and cook eggs along with other technical cooking skills.

Since this was prerecorded (most likely for a cooking show), he was engaging with what would have been the audience at the time. I enjoyed the various camera angles that were shown while he was cooking. They would get up close to the food so you could see the smaller details as he talked about them. There were also screens in-betweeen each section which broke up the stream nicely and allowed the viewer to regroup and get ready for the next thing.

This type of stream was a bit confusing at first, and I had to watch for a bit in order to find out that it was him since there wasn't a description. Here are a few screenshots from the stream:
