MINI VISUALIZER EXPLORATION

Assignment

There are numerous worthwhile tutorials and resources online that continue to explain and explore sound visualization within Blender.  For homework, seek out a blender sound visualizer tutorial, follow it, modify it, and make something new from it.  Essentially, create your own mini sound visualizer.

Once finished, you should render your scene as a short video animation, upload it to Youtube or Vimeo, and link it to your design blog. Also be sure to take several work-in-progress screenshots from inside of Blender and include them in your blog post as well with very brief text descriptions of each.

I followed         tutorial for this assignment and used         sound for my audio.

I started by adding my sound by going to the video sequencer. I then added an ico sphere and increased the subdivisions to 8. I added a stucci brush texture following the tutorial and adjusted the settings.

Then, I added three displace modifiers following the tutorial. I baked these modifiers to the audio and had each one's strength correlate to a different frequency range (0-250, 250-600, and 600-10000 Hz).

Finally, I added a material to the shape. I went with a matte color and added an emission to it. I also added a large cube with the top face deleted as my scene. I wanted to include a particle emission to fill the blank space, so I added one to the cube.

Finally, I added keyframes to the color so it would change every 50 frames up to 300, every 10 frames up to 400 and finally every 5 frames up to 500.

Unfortunately, whenever I rendered (no matter how many frames long my it was), Blender would crash. My guess is the particle simulator, but here is an OBS recording of what I wanted the visualizer to look like before I removed the simulator.

Final video with removed particle simulator.
