HAIR IN STRANGE PLACES

Assignment

Using either your Simple Sculpt or Sculpting Follow-Along Model, apply hair to it in order to give your model an interesting new look.  Before you begin, save a copy of your model's .blend file so that you will continue to have access to it in its original form.  Next, using vertex groups, apply hair to various areas of your model where it makes sense.  Color the hair and comb it into place.

After applying hair paint your model using Vertex Painting mode.  Colors do not need to be overly complex, but some degree of shading and variance should exist within the paint job.

Once finished, you should render your model as images from a front, side, and isometric view , and then add these images to your design blog. Also be sure to take several work-in-progress screenshots from inside of Blender and include them in your blog post as well with very brief text descriptions of each.

I started by copying my Pikachu Blender file then selected the head and tail (one at a time) because I wanted him to have hair in these two places in object mode. I went into edit mode for each of these parts and used the lasso tool to select the places where I wanted his hair to come out of. I assigned each of these to different vertex groups.

I then created particle systems on his head and tail and changed it to hair. I changed the length and hair type on the tail to be curly. I made sure children was selected and interpolated was selected then for each particle system assigned the corresponding vertex group. In the particle edit  mode I combed his head hair down to make bangs and also combed it around so it looked like he just got out of bed.

Finally, I went into the shading tab and added a vertex color node and connected it to the base color. This ended up changing all colors of Pikachu, so I went in and selected each object so I could paint him to be the originalal color. I wanted his body to stay the same as it was in the last assignment. I used a smaller brush to as a multicolored look to the top of his head and fun red and black stripes to his tail to follow the lightning bolt.
